Xenical Usage

Like any other medication, it is important to understand how to properly take Xenical.  Because Xenical prevents the absorption of up to 30% of fat, Xenical should be taken within 1 hour of eating a meal, or with a meal. If a meal is
skipped, or if the meal eaten contains no fat, skip that dose of Xenical.

How Xenical Works

Xenical can prevent the absorption of some vitamins into the body. For this reason, the FDA recommends taking a multivitamin daily when taking Xenical. This vitamin supplement should be taken within 2 hours before or after taking a dose of Xenical.

The dose of Xenical taken depends on the individual and the doctor's recommendations. Follow the doctor's recommendations for dosage(s) of Xenical, or follow the instructions on the Xenical label. Never adjust a dose of Xenical without having a doctor's instructions to do so. Never take extra doses of any medication.

Typical dosage of Xenical for the treatment of obesity is:

- Adults - 120 milligrams (mg), 3 times a day with meals that contain fat
- Children - Xenical is generally not recommended for individuals under the age of 16

If a Xenical dose is missed after eating a meal containing fat, skip that Xenical dose. Do not double up doses. Wait until the next meal eaten containing fat to take a dose, then continue with the regular dosing schedule.

Storing Xenical

• Keep safely out of the reach of children

• Store away from heat and direct light

• Do not let Xenical freeze

• Do not refrigerate

• Safely discard outdated Xenical or Xenical that is no longer required

Xenical should always be used in conjunction with a low fat, balanced diet and regular physical activity.
